How can you resist these sad puppy eyes begging you to take them home? Vintage Japanese porcelain figural salt and pepper shakers, on display in a collection in one home since the 1950s.

Nice sculptural details on these puppies: folds above and around eyes, nostrils beneath their black noses, strong muscles in back legs, and ribs peaking through their bellies. Artfully painted under the glaze with black and tan spots on white, and large pink tongues.
About 3 1/2 inches wide, and 2 1/2 inches high.
In excellent condition - no cracks or chips; tiny nick on one hole, a little roughness at tip of other dog's tail, 2 flakes on ribs of one dog, and one flake on the unglazed bottom of one foot of the same dog. I really had to search for these imperfections ... these doggies have led a charmed life!
